To say that I was a health article nut would be an understatement but today I try not to read anything health related at all. Most people who know me would probably have said I was a health freak. I used to be out of shape, lazy, and fat, and it made me feel awful, but since I finally got my body back into shape thanks to a herbal weight loss diet, I have been doing everything that I can to stay this way.
I felt the urge to read every health article I could find so I wouldn’t miss out on any new diet or exercise regime or healthy supplement I should have. I simply get angry when I see articles in magazines on healthy eating benefits now because what they really do is tell you something is great for you today and then they say how bad it is tommorrow. It’s not fair telling people how great soy is one day than saying it could have dangerous effects the next. What bothers me is that they just don’t seem to be aware of the fact that most of us just want to be healthy, fit and live as long as possible and to achieve this we could use some sort of help, not hindrance.
Every health article that I read, however, presents a different view on what that would mean. Three great American favorites, coffee, alcohol and chocolate were up until recently, thought to be bad for your health. So we have scientists now telling us that provided we use them in moderation, dark chocolate, dark beer or Guinness and coffee have positive health benefits. What can you say because you know that soon they will be telling us that cheesecake and full fat dairy ice cream are the best in reducing your cholesterol level.
I suppose what all this has taught me is to take responsibility for my own lifestyle and health.Surely it will not prevent me from reading health articles but in future I’m planning to decide myself how much to take notice of it. After saying all of this, I know I’ll continue to read health related articles but I will look at them with different eyes, besides they usually have some very good exercise workouts. Surely I am no different from anyone else in wanting an active life, but I just do not want the constant infringement on my personal freedom that I’ve had over many years from these so called experts.
